Kwakwakawak'w Artist Gord Hill is a social activist, carver, comics artist and illustrator. His work can be seen in numerous self published pamphlets, comics and T-shirt designs. His work appears in many underground and political publications. Gord creates work that carries stories and messages for revolution, justice and chronicles the struggle our ancestor's have made against racism, capitalism, imperialism and genocide to retain our unique aboriginal cultures. Gord's work is powerful and is clearly and sharply political messaging, even in his traditional work Gord approached with an understanding of the political history and suppression of Northwest Coast Art and the sacrifice and strength of the people who maintained arts and culture as subversive to the dominant culture. Gord's current work chronicles 500 years of Indigenous Resistance in the form of a comic book. Gord tries to ignite the warrior spirit through his artwork.
